Yes I believe of bunch of these dogtags were dug up near an old airfield. Here is some translated non referenced information I found on the net.

"Flieger Ersatz Bataillon XII" was a reserve Division of the Luftwaffe with recruit training functions formed in 1942, based at the military airport of Trier-Büren (Rheinland-Pfalz) * which was later transferred to the 14.4.44 at the military airport of Illesheim (Bayern) *.Following the tragic events of 8 September 1943 Italians, a part of the "Italian military internees in Germany" decided to continue the war with the Germans and enlisted in the Luftwaffe. Therefore, some hundreds of Italian soldiers (plus a few Russian and Dutch residency *) were classified in the "Flg.Ers.Batl.XII" to receive training on the new German military instructions.During this training the war fell, and in 1945 the Division was again transferred to the military airport of Unterfürberg Fürth-(Bayern) * to be prepared to defend that area from the Americans now upon us.Here, despite suffering heavy bombing, the "Flg.Ers.Batl.XII" against the advancing American fiercely resisting up to 19.04.45 *. In defense of Fürth found themselves so to operate many uniformed Italian soldiers of the Luftwaffe (Italienische Kriegsfreivillige) without the local Chronicle ever reported in presunzion news and that the resistance was conducted solely by German units of the Wehrmacht.Only recently, the wonder and curiosity due to the discovery of many of the plates "Flg. Ers. Bat. XII-Ital." infrastructure on the ground that the Airport (now American base and subsequently decommissioned nel 1995 to build a new neighborhood.
