I am bringing this one back up. This soldbuch was issued to Hans Olenick.

Looking for anything on this guy. I haven't been successful finding him listed in any of my books or on-line. He fought at Kharkov and Normandy.

No entry after his wedding furlough.

I'd recommend starting a thread in the OOB/Individual Research forum to see if there is anyone planning a future visit to NARA who might offer to check and see if there's any info on your guy. There are some "professional researchers" who will charge you a fee for this service, but there are also some very helpful and generous collectors who live in close proximity to NARA who travel there now and then to perform research and might be willing to check for you.

Posting a request here might also be very beneficial of course.

I hope you are able to eventually locate a photo of Olenick. It's possible there might be a photo (or photos) of him if there are any scans of his personnel files at NARA. I have a serialized (numbered) SS dagger to a SS NCO and was able to obtain a few photos of my guy - in uniform no less! - which were contained within his personnel file at NARA; It's always great to put a face with a name! Keep digging and also watch for photo albums and single photos of Panzers from your guy's units and be sure to save them.

Here's a second photo of a few Heer and SS soldiers standing in front of a Tiger from s.SS.Pz.Abt.102 with one-piece SS camo uniforms in wear. Like the photo I posted above (which shows some of the same soldiers) this photo depicts personnel and a Tiger from the very same unit as the soldier who's Soldbuch I have which I mentioned in post #10.
