    My New LS dienstbuch

    Hello,

Following on from my earlier thread about areas covered by LS dienstbuchs,I went out and bought this one!
    Issued in Wilhelmshaven.
Now I have Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven,I need more,as many towns/cities as I can get!
I'll include some scans in this thread, all opinions(and help with the Sutterlin!) welcomed!

    Kind regards,
    Andy

        Page 20.

        I think Lehrgange is courses/training?

          Page 21,wartime service.

I think this indicates medical service, but i'm prepared to be corrected!

Is the word in the middle column,'bereitschaftsdienst'?

Short statement in advance: I'm neither a Luftschutz, a Dienstbuch or a Sütterlin expert.

page 20: "Lehrgänge" is indeed courses / training

page 21: correct and correct ! (Luftschutz-Sanitäts-Dienst = medical service)

page 25: I'm reading "überplanm." which would be short for "überplanmäßiger" (above the standard budget). Also a slight correction as it is "Truppführer" (as a military term a Trupp is roughly equivalent to a half-squad; when used with civilian occupations it might be considerably larger).

I will gladly try to help if there is anything else.

              Hope this helps a bit!

Here is what I can make out so far.(thanks Folkert!)

                  Bernhard Arnott(?),born 28/10/1887 in __________?
He was a non-believer in God,in civilian life his job was _________?
He was 1m 67 tall with a round face and blonde hair.
Gas mask size 1,helmet and cap size 56,shoesize 43.

Examined on 1/9/1939,and found fit for service, signed up on 10/1/1938,as Truppmann in the LS medical service.

Also, what does the number 5443 signify please?

Can anyone help me fill in the blanks please?

Can anyone tell me if I have got the above right(the examined and signed up piece)As i'm not 100% sure,it seems weird that he was examined in 1939,yet signed up in 1938!

                  Kind regards,
                  Andy

                    Sorry, Andy!

I did only react to the very questions you posted, not the document as a whole. I will give it a more thorough look a bit later. (Unfortunately, I won't be much help in the Sütterlin department. My grandfather owned an international shipping company and thus never used it, in fact he also discarded the Sütterlin for the family as well.)

One point concerning his surname: It is Arndt.

                    Regards,

                    Folkert

                      Andy,

while browsing through the Archives here from work I came across your posts on your Luftschutzapotheke:

I was wondering if any of our German friends on the forum may be able to tell me what some of the products are that are in the case?
Some are fairly self-explanitory,e.g,anti-histimine tablets and bandages!
But some of the other stuff leaves me baffled!
I could post the names on the packets or take photos and display them here.
One example is,'THYREOIDIN',these are little black tablets in a bottle, but what are they!?
Also, if someone could help with a translation of the contents list I would be grateful,if possible I would like to try and get some of the contents that are missing from the box!
Do you still need help with this?

I'm asking because my mother is a 'qualified' pharmacist (as are two of her brothers, just like their father was) [the 'qualified' part is most important in Germany ]. I guess I could try to enlist their help with the identification.

                        Yes please Folkert!

As I said, some things seem to be self explanatory, others,I'm not too sure about!!

                        All help welcomed!
                        Kind regards,
                        Andy
