Sorry couldn't restist that one....however if you do not know how to type the dreaded "Umlaut" it is normaly written thus:

Schäfer - Schaefer
Schützen - Schuetzen

etc....notice the the vowel followed by an "e"...

Otherwise try the following, hold down the "Alt" key and type the following numbers on your number pad on the right hand side of your keyboard...

ä = 132
ü - 129
ö - 148
ß - 225
