why in 1944, the rank is still called gefreiten? not SS rank terms.

Where do you see gefrieter? His ranks were sturmmann, rottenfuher,unterscharfuher.

Thanks for Your kind comment. I have the first issue of this book too and liked the "spirit" of Otto Weidinger's style very much. This regiment REALLY had a hard life and many, many good men died...
I'm sure You recognized, that this man suffered the wound that killed him in the service of "Götz von Berlichingen"-Division.
