Hi Adam,

Looks ok from what I see but would prefer to see more entries, unit page, combat engagements etc.

From the awards page and Feldpost number he appears to have served with:

I'll be interested to hear about your buying experience with this seller. I was tempted by something on his site months ago but never went ahead because it was too expensive.

Again no alarms there....I can not find him listed on the German War Graves site to say he was killed in in Russia 1943. However clearly the entries stop in 1943.
There is something written on page 34 which records wounds and death etc. as you can see through page 33!

I suppose it's what you think of as 'cavalry' but the chances are this lad never rode a horse, during the period he served with the unit it was a motorised reconnaissance battalion, including a period as a motorcycle battalion. Though if you include units which had their roots and traditions in the old kavallerie units, then i guess the unit could be thought of as such.

Adding on from what Simon wrote, Aufklärungs units usually had a tradition from Cavalry units, however with that said, the key pages are still not provided....his units for example!

Additionally a quick search indicates Aufklärungs-Abteilung 36 was actually formed from MG Bataillon 11! So no Cavalry tradition there.....

Based on his dog tag number Nachr.Ers.Schw. 18, this could be part of Kavallerie or Radfahr Ersatz Abteilung 18, however without seeing the units page who knows!

Can you get a scan of page 12 as I am curious as to his units, especially from the description what Corp-Cavalry Reg 5 is?

One thing I have just noticed is this is a Zweitschrift or replacement from 5.10.1942. His EK II and Russian Front Medal were awarded prior to this date proving that this is not his original Wehrpaß from when he joined up......unless he never had one of course!
