Must have been fast...my e-mail left at 02:00:05 and it had sold. Pity it has been split from the SB.

Not me either, however as Gary mentioned pity it was split....the two should have remained together....the Soldbuch had a replaced photo and appeared to be missing some pages (23-34..only leave but that can put someone at a famous battle or not!)...even though it said it was complete!

I saw that one go, but don't know who got it, I managed to snag a nice 1939 EKI screwback marked L/18 for $206
Interested in candid/private Hitler, KIA, and Holocaust photos. Also any AH related memorabilia--silverware, linen, crystal, china...
        All the best,
        Chris

          Hello Gary T and Ian,

Agreed. This group should definitly have stayed together. I hope that whoever the buyer of the WP is that they will consider buying the SB as well. Was suprised to see that Detlev would do this.

          Regards

He's done this before....but then again many dealers do.... If it is a high end pricey thing then I expect it to be broken up over time as there is a lot of money involved......this small document should have remained together........

Many a time there are odd documents to soldiers split up.....and it does appear to be Heer groups.....the Luftwaffe seem to stay together !!

Some collectors do this anyway....buy the group...take what they want and sell the rest........I know a few that will split it into 3 groups

                1) Photos
                2) Awards
                3) Documents
and even 4) Soldbuch and/or Wehrpaß

When awards are concerned a lot of money can be involved as well!!!

                  Hello Ian,

Thank you. A most informative reply. Just dissappointed that somone of such dealer stature would do, or continue to do something like this. It reminds me of broken British medal groups. Agreed, in retrospect not surpising though as I have also seen very expensive doc groups over the years from dealers broken up for sale and put on the market. Overall a continuing blight and a shame that largely ruins the integrity of most all doc groups.

                  Regards

Do you think its value for money though Ian? By the looks of it, it has seen a lot of ware and tear so what would be the best why to keep it from falling apart all together?
                    Regards

As long as all the pages are there and it is legible it is worth it.....however, if the photo is replaced or removed, pages are missing then you have an incomplete record and it has to be priced accordingly.

                      /Ian
