    Hi Ian,

    Yes, not training as such but the examinations for written and spoken French, Dutch, English and Italian. In the foreign languages spoken section of the WP (page 4, section 11) he is recorded as having school level French and English when the WP was registered (Nov 1936). Italian has been added at a later date. Anyone have any details on language training (if any) for Brandenburg units?

        Er, WP site...well I have written a new one (apart from the guide part which I'm working on). I have a few problems with the host at the moment as the database has stopped working (the collection part is now fully searchable on surname, rank, wehrkreis, wehrbezirks, award, campaign, unit etc). The host are trying to claim it's my code - which it's not. I know how to fix it on the server side but they seem reluctant to take my advice

        Thanks for the kind reply. Unfortunatley I'm behind the technology scanner and do not have a scanner. Looks like I will have to buy one! I will dig out the WP and see what units are on it. Bought mine many...many years ago. I can tell you that he was also with the Sanitiats Staffel of the Brandenburg...talk about a coincidence! If I am not mistaken he was either in the II or III Regiment, but I will check to make sure and get back to you. He was not decorated like your man, but the WP has some of the best unit stampings I have seen with some additional papers.

          My SB, reissued in 1944, shows FP-Nr. stamps throughout (44468 and 02836). Thus I found it interesting to see unit "named" stamps. I would be happy to see more examples from other collectors.

          By the way, here's a photo that shows the sign of II./BR clearly. Maybe I posted this once, anyway.

              Hi Akira,

              I'm not sure that the use of named units stamps on award documents is unusual. A quick look through my award documents in other groups shows that nearly all of them are authorised with a named unit stamp. In fact I can only find two out of a hundred or so that have a FP Nr stamp.

              In a WP I would expect to see a split of about 50/50 FP Nr\name unit stamps. In soldbuchs it is much higher proportion of Fp Nr.

                  Hi Gary! As always I was too terse; I know no more SV800 examples to compare so I can't say anything definitely... Well, when I got my SB everything was in FP.Nr. only! No "Brandenburg"! Then I suspected that the Geheimnis of the unit may have something to do with it. Now that you've shown the usual unit name stamp, my guess actually now may have been just too wild a guess. My SB was resissued in 1944 and your award documents are in 1942, so something may have changed in between of course...

                  Therefore I want to see more examples, I hope someone else is kind enough to show his book

                    I have a couple of Brandenburg Soldbuch that I will show later, however they are all FP Nr. only......not lucky enough to have a Wehrpaß, however they have the unit in full.....

                    During 1944 when the unit was reformed as a Pz.Gren.Div. the use of only FP Nr. appears to cease.....

                        The SB entries would be stamped at the company level and the award documents were issued at battalion\regiment level so I would not expect them to both have the same unit stamp. In a WP that is why you have 'awarded by' notations and columns. The award entry is usually stamped by the company, but if the WP is completed in a hospital or at a latter date any relevant stamp can be found.

                        In my opinion, as already mentioned, these entries have been added to this WP at a point sometime in the future (as late as 1945) using a SB as it's reference. Going by both your observations as to the Brandenburg security use of FP Nrs instead of unit designations before 1944 then these FP Nr's (which are unusual to find in a WP as the authorising unit) are what I would expect to find.

                          After reading your posts I noticed your most interesting wants listing...'An especially good home awaits your spare KC, DKiG and EK1 holders, Panzer Division & GD items.'I could always use a few of those in my collection as well.
