    Luftwaffe Soldbuch...real beauty!

    Gents,

I have for your enjoyment a vet bringback Luftwaffe soldbuch. It's for a Fallschrimjager and is just a real beauty. Unfortunately the vet (my uncle) passed away long ago and I'm not sure how exactly he came across this gem but check it out. He was in the U.S. armoured calvary and he brought back tons of pictures and booty. This was in one of the roughly 12 folders I have in the war-room currently. I have more pictures but I'm showing the neat parts of it.

Would be pleased to hear comments or guesses as to the price? No I'm not selling it.

    Fallschrim license stuck inside.

    Very Aryan looking fellow

Page stuck in after the license

Equipment checklist with personal photos stuck inside

More personal photos, the one of the man in a suit says something about the Ardennes on the back. I believe the Heer soldier is his brother, I have another picture of him in a portrait shot. He was in the GD.

Stamps and other things (would be greatful to know what they are!)

    The items after being unfolded.

Not sure what this page is either but it's colorful!

The back with 10 Hitler stamps

      Portrait shot of the brother.

Picture of the Fallschrim and his girl.
Interestingly enough the last two photos were in a seperate folder but they are of the two men in the soldbuch. Wish I knew the whole story.

      Hope you like it!

Indeed an interesting Soldbuch.....from the FP Nr. 49323 I can see he served with Fallschirmjäger Regiment 6.
The signature on leave 4, page 23 is that of Oberstleutnant Friedrich-August Freiherr von der Heydte EL (Oakleaves winner).

The cleanliness of the Soldbuch looks like it could be a replacement.

Also interesting to see the other documents, Fallschirmschützenschein and Tarnausweis.

Herr Schäfer was at least an Unteroffizier and awarded an EK II and the Fj. Badge....his awards should be indicated on page 22.

Can you show that page and page 4? The latter has his units.

He does not show up on the German War Graves site so he could have survived the war, however the site does not list those with unknown graves and all those that are missing in action.

Your uncle obviously liberated it from a dead soldier or a PoW!

        /Ian

Will post pics of the pages tomorrow...I'm very pleased to see he was a veteran of the Normandy campaign possibly. I looked on his awards page and there are two things I can't make out but he did get the EKII and the FJ badge along with the KRETA cuff title so this boy must have been a good soldier. He enlisted before the war. Anything else you want to see feel free to ask.
