    U-boot document...

    Hi,
I need your opinion about this group of documents.
I don't understand why a man of coastal artillery was anboard of on a Uboat?

    Thank you very much

    P.

Sorry to say that I have a very bad feeling the longer I look at that piece of paper, in my humble opinion not an original one, but a fantasy piece that is glued into that Soldbuch.

And why only "geeignet für U 230" (active in the Med. and sunk one day later on 21.8.1944....) one was tested for Uboat service.....not for one single particular boat.

    Best regards

Unless i'm mistaken this only says he's been medically examined for u-boat service.

Where was he serving in Aug.44?

What about the U 230 stamp ? Or is it a code "geeignet für : U(boote) and number 230 ?

I think without more pictures of the rest of the soldbuch, there's not much to discuss. The photos provided are "iffy" at best.

Yes "it says he's been medically examined for u-boat service".

The way it is made up, spelling and font.

How it is filled in, Tauglich and the signature.

And why : Ergebnis - Tauglich ...... and then an extra Geeignet für : U 230.

Ergebnis and Geeignet used both and how it is done here is a bit too much for me.

            Ergebnis - Tauglich = Result - Capable.
            Geeignet für : U 230 = Suitable for : U 230.

The only result versions that I have seen for being medically examined for u-boat service are Uboot Tauglich or Uboot Untauglich (didn't see the Bedingt = Limited, version).
Although I have seen uboat crewmembers who were first marked as Uboot Tauglich, being marked Uboot Untauglich after one or more uboat practice trials at sea or uboat combat missions.

            Best regards

Has anyone seen something like this before in a Soldbuch?

Agree, I never saw a direct link to a U-bootnumber in such medical test documents. (also found in Führungsbücher) It would not make sense as well, because they first had to do training and would be placed on a U-boot only after that.

To add something, the crewlists give this information:

                Liedtke Bruno MaschOGfr
                10.05.1924 05.05.1945
                U-1000. U-3523+
                lost E.of Aarhus Denmark

At first the KVK Urkunde with a stamp of an Infanterieregiment seemed a bit strange, but this seems possible. A quick google search learned these units were at the island Leros:

                On Leros was the
                Stb/ Festungs-Infanterie-Regiment 986
                IX./ Festungs-Infanterie-Bataillon 999 [4 coys]
                Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 624 (KKpt Hufschmidt)
                Hafen-Schutz-Flottille „Leros“
CO of the isle was Obst Koschella

It would not be strange that two persons with the same name could be found, but apparently somebody tried to mixed that up to make the soldbuch more interesting.

                Kind regards,

                Maurice
