    Wehrpass Protective Cover

    Guys,

I have quite a few of these (the issue type) and I guess there are probably many different variants, most being a pale green colour.

I also have a blue colour that is no doubt lufty as it holds a Flak guys pass but today I got an orange/reddish colour cover (empty).

I suppose the question is how many different colours are out there and do they relate to anything in particular?

Any to add to the list or were they just made of whatever stock was available?

    Thanks.

    Hi Jock,

I have several Wehrpass covers in my collection, made from various card types.
Green, beige, blue, fake leather in black and brown etc.
I have not bought these deliberately, but have received them in various paperwork groupings.
I believe these were not "issued " as such, bit could be purchased privately by people - I won't say soldiers, as many Wehrpass holders were never called up for service!
My favourite two are a matching Soldbuch and Wehrpass cover in fake black leather embrossed with gold for a man serving in a Landesschutz unit who never left Germany on any form of active service.
Soldbuch and Wehrpass were in such good condition , I initially thought they were fake due to their immaculate condition!

    Best wishes,

    John.

Hi John! Can you show any pics of these covers?

I've never seen blue or black examples!

      Regards

        John,

Same sketch ref black, brown private purchase type covers.

I mean the card ones that have Wehrpass in the middle with both the large box bottom centre and the small box top right for the service mans initials, these surely must be issue with this file reference box?

Most of the pale green ones I have are not maker marked but the others I have are both the blue and red one are 'L.G. Seeger, Stuttgart' at the reverse center bottom. The green ones (x 2) are 'Julius Kress, Kassel' though both marks are different.

Like I say I have a lot of the pale green but only the two other variants, just wondered if there were more colours out there and if they denote anything?

        Jock
