I gather it may be too common or boring to illicit a response, but is it good?

2 Batterie FLAK Ers (Training ) Abt 26

The tag was issued to the soldier whilst he was in training with the above unit from there he will have been sent onto a Field unit.

Thanks! Would he have had the same tag when he went to his assigned unit (assuming it fed the 26th FLAK Regiment), or would he have had the tag reissued?

Chances are he would of kept his current tag, if he was to loose or break that said tag his current unit would thereby supply an replacement.

                My grandfather's DogTag (Erkennungsmarke) is similar: 3./Flak Ers.Abt. 26
This translates as 3rd. Battery, Flak Replacement Battalion 26. He trained in Barth, Germany and was stationed in Paris, France. Captured on March 28, 1945 near the WestWall with Flak-Regiment 59.
This information was provided to me by WASt and ICRC.

                  2./Flak.Ers.Abt.26

                  This is not a regiment.

He would have kept his original issued dog tag. Upon completion of his training he would get his assignment. Flak units were funny due to the fact that Ersatz Replacement Units would not automatically go to a parent Regiment of the same number.
Case in point my grandfather was 3./Flak.Ers.Abt.26, he trained in Barth at the Flak school which was situated next to Stalag Luft I. Upon completion of his training he was sent to Paris, France with Flak-Regiment 59.
