Hi,
I have recently aquired a new tag to my RAD collection.
It is a very special one.
At a first glance looks to be issued by a RAD Gruppe from Westpommern ( 4/44 - all 40-series Abteilungen were stationed in Westpommern). However I couldn't find this unit anywhere in Westpommern. Actually I have found it stationded in a small town of Otterberg in Rheinland/Pfalz. I have started my little research and found that there were many other RAD units in that RAD Gau which came from some other parts of Germany -now the most interestig - many of them had additional marking of letter S and a roman number - note S XI on mine. I have a collection of tags from each of the RAD Gaue, but never came across this kind of marking before.
Can anyone explain what this extra numbering stands for?
Regards and thanks for your help.
Al
ps. note that this tag is also stamped in bitt different manner - RADMeldeamt number is missing and Stammrolle is stamped as on standard army tags instead of being situated behind the unit marking.
