    Your welcome Erich. I have seen cases where older individuals were placed into the Führerreserve and recalled later in the war. In still other cases being placed for a short period of time into a front reserve such as Führerreserve Afrika ect...after completing a school.

    Good point, there were cases of some being placed into the Führerreserve due to any number of questionable reasons as well.

    He was a pre-war officer so their is a good chance his service file is still available.

      That's right.

      I will be in Freiburg in a few weeks and will ask to see his file if possible. He has no living relatives.

      As for his service in WWI - where could I find this information?

        Usually you will find details of WWi, and post-WWI service administratively added into the file as well.
