            Do you have any
Only joking On a serious point......nice Soldbuch that has definately been there!! I did see it on Mil321 and toyed with the idea of putting in a bid, however it is well used and the fact it did not have a uniform photo was sufficient for me not to place a bid.

However, worth of a lot more research to ID signatures, actions involved in etc. if you can find any info on him which I could not in a short time that I looked......

            /Ian

Thomas, I'm still trying to find some information on the man - but in the meantime it is safe to say: Congratulations, on another great Soldbuch!

The only confusion I have is how the entries changed from Grenadierregiment 311 to 911.

I find no connection between the two units nor is there any indication that Bopp changed from GR311 to GR911. In February 1945 the GR911 belonging to the 349. Volksgrenadier-Division was destroyed at Heiligenbeil.

I have to spend some more time - perhaps Ian can offer an explanation.

I see no connection between 311 and 911......they are units of 217 Inf.Div. which was destroyed with elements under Korps Abteilung C in 1944....I presume wounded then to 349 Volks Gren.Div.

One book you need to check out Thomas:

Heinz Simat: Blutiger Abschied. Autobiographischer Tatsachenbericht über die verzweifelten Abwehrkämpfe der 349. Volksgrenadier-Division in Ostpreußen von Januar bis April 1945, Stade 1986

Maybe the writer make a mistake and don´t wrote 311 so he wrote 911

The only information was the link to a other forum and this information to his german cross

                    Bopp, Oskar, 02.05.1944, Oberleutnant, 4./Gren.Rgt. 311 / Div.Grp. 217

                      Thomas,

                      FP Nr. 09891
                      (Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) Stab I Infanterie-Regiment 311,
                      (28.4.1940-14.9.1940) Stab I Infanterie-Regiment 311 u. 1.-4. Kompanie ,
                      (1.8.1943-23.3.1944) 30.12.1943 Stab I u. 1.-4. Kompanie Grenadier-Regiment 311,
                      6.3.1944 gestrichen,
                      (7.11.1944-Kriegsende) 16.2.1945 Stab u. 1.-4. Kompanie Volkssturm-Bataillon 20/21,
                      (7.11.1944-Kriegsende) 28.3.1945 Stab u. 1.-4. Kompanie Volkssturm-Bataillon 20/3.

No I haven't read that book but it is regarding Bopp's last unit. There is also Grünes Herz in Feldgrau, Kriegstagebuch eines ostpreußischen Forstmann, Hubert Hundrieser. This is about 217 Inf.Div.

However when he got his DK he was part of Div.Grp. 217 under Korps Abteilung C....perhaps a little sketchy to find info during that time!

                      217. Infanterie-Division
                      Korps-Abteilung C

                      /Ian

Looks like he started off with Inf.Rgt. 336 of 161 Inf.Div.

                        161. Infanterie-Division

Very interesting Solbuch Thomas to a decorated front fighter.

Note also what appears to be shrapnel damage to the Soldbuch cover and pages underneath it on the upper right side.

Thanks a lot for information and yes Ian was very hard to find the information about this time eín end of the war

I ask the seller from this book Heinz Simat: Blutiger Abschied. Autobiographischer Tatsachenbericht but in it was no picture or card and the book have only 58 sides .I think I can not read any information for my soldier , the autor only tell his story in it not the story from the company or from other soldiers
