                Nice Soldbuch!

Seems he was at Stalingrad. Permission for Erholungsurlaub on 08.11.1942 (the last pic shows the pass), which means he avoided the encirclement. Soldiers returning from leave were assembled in makeshift combat groups outside the pocket, and I dare say this guy was one of them. Then, he was sent back to become part of the reformed battalion.

                Awards of page 22:
                Medaille zur Erinnerung den 1.10.1938
                Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse
                Sturmabzeichen
                Ostmedaille

                    battles

Stalingrad: According to Glantz the 94ID captured the grain elevator around 22 Sep. The 29ID was to the south on their right flank facing the Volga. No mention of the pioneer battalion in the struggle gor the grain elevator in this book.

Cassino: The 29ID opposed the Allied advance up the boot of Italy from Salerno. Lemelson's book has the 29ID fighting in advance or "vor" Cassino. The 129 AA, the 15IR and 71 IR are mentioned in the account. The division then passed to the north of Cassio, before proceeding to Anzio to oppose the Allied landings there. No mention of the pioneer battalion in any of the German division histories in this battle.

                      Hello

For the fights of the silo has grain(bead) has stalingrad and has cassino I am base on diverse documents among which here are the links

                      http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/29e_Pan...adier_Division

                      http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...en/29PGD-R.htm

                      ( K = 29ID)

                      (A=29ID)

Bitter some research I have to find that 29th panzer-GRENADIER-DIVISION has shape with them stay of the 29th ID is 4000 men stemming from survivors, hurt who(which) benn in hospitals has the rear of the front and the return of those who has in permission what is the case for our man

The experiences of the 29th infantry division (mot) with the battles(fighting) for the silo describes the French writer and historian Raymond Cartier: Infantry division (Motorized) in the battle for the Grain portrays the French writer and historian Raymond Cartier:

" The conquest of the big silo by 29. " The conquest of large silos by the 29 motorized divisions was first of these unreal battle scenes which lend(award) their(her) incomparable character to the battle around Stalin's degree. Motorized division what the ridge of those surreal battle scenes that give the Battle of Stalin's degree their incomparable character. The detonations which resounded in the enormous concrete block stretched the eardrums up to burstting. The explosions that echoed in the huge perch of concrete stretched, ready to burst the eardrums. The building in which themselves Russians and Germans murdered was of still more full grain. The building in which the murdered Russian and German, what quietly full of grain
