Matt: You are correct - I posted that from work, but looking at my tag now, I was wrong. However, it is very reminiscent of our tags, in font and structure - which immediatly jumped out at me.

Simon: That book is often on ebay (more often german ebay - ebay.de).

Title: Deutsche Erkennungsmarken Des Zweiten Weltkrieges
    Author: Jean Höidal
    ISBN: 3-931533-40-9

Best book out there for this stuff, too bad it is all in German for folks who can't read it fluently (me!). Still immensely helpful, but just as many other reference books, it has its mistakes.

Things to note about the bloodgroup stampings: Ah, Matt will PM you this! Edited it out.

How do you get German script into your typing?

      Thanks Again
No problem Simon, I'm always happy to help. In addition to Chris' information about Höidal's book, there are always copies listed on www.militariaweb.com or you can visit www.emarken.de and get info there. It's an excellent reference to have- and, thus far, it's really the only one.

You can put letters with Umlauts and the ß, by holding down the 'Alt' key and on your number pad type 132 for ä, 148 for ö, 129 for ü, and 225 for the ß. It's a bit of a pain, but I prefer to write things correctly whenever I can.
