    y do i collect

guys i am a chauffeur in london and much of my work envolves airport pickups picked up a chap today.and we have to hold an idiots board with there name on it.ok u ask.this guys name was johannes von bismark.well the talk got around to i wish i could understand german.and the question was asked y.then i had to explain that i collect certain things.as i did not want to offend.now the journey in to london can take up to 1 hour.and we talked all the way in.and he asked me y do i collect and i did not have an answer??maybe strange to an outsider.i must addmit my girl freind can allso not understand it.and how addictive it can be.well i just told her it is the same as fishing.sit all day catch something and throw it back.some hobby that he told me much of there stuff is in family archives and i would love some of there stuff.thanks for looking

No offence intended. I've seen a lot worse. Apologies.

              Hi Doug,

In my mind everyone has a least one reason why they collect militaria, especially if the specialise i.e. you and I collect WWII German documents. I myself collect German Wehrpasses as I am most intrigued by them and the personal details they contain - the day in the life of one particular soldier. As for only collecting Third Reich documents, well my reason would be one of interest with the regime and the fact that they LOST the war.....a topic similar to this is being discussed in the Kniepe!

                y i collect

i started to collect wehrpass and soldbuch.because.i had a small collection of medals.and badges.but was totaly fed up with every time you thought i had a good one seems i got shot down in flames.i just thought that there was not as much fakery and shaddy deals.maybe because they are not yet in the higher price range yet.mind you my most expensive so far i still am waiting for is an ss wehrpass 168pounds.i tried to keep below the 100pound mark.but find i am already jumping higher. i have about 45 books now.and now i think i will start.on quality rather than quantity.i do like the books that come with either paperwork or pics seems somehow more personal thanks for looking
