Hi all,
Recently I bought the Wehrpass of Fw. Hermann Gäbler. Gäbler served (9.4.40-10.5.42) in the Stabskomp I./Panzer Regt. 1, (2.3.43 – 15.7.44) 2./ Pz. Abt. 116, from 15.7.44 on in 2. Kompanie (Panther) Panzer Regt. 16 of 116th Panzer (Windhund) Division. There are no further units mentioned. The latest inscription dates from 1.11.1944 when he was promoted to Feldwebel. In fact this Wehrpass seems to have been
discovered whit some others in a container during a dig; the Wehrpass shows some traces of damp.
I have 2 questions. 1) does one of the members has any information on the town where the Wehrpasses were found or when they were lost/buried ?
2) A friend has another Wehrpass from the same container. That soldier also belonged to the Pz. Regt. 1 before he was transferred to the Pz. Abt. 116. Is that a coincidence. Are members who the existence of other Wehrpasses from this treasure with combat entries for May – June 1940?
Many thanks
Peter
