I've just bought a very battered SS Soldbuch, it came with photocopies of the guy's service record. For some unexplained reason the last owner of the Soldbuch sold the original service record. The Soldbuch is in bad condition, its missing it's front and back cover, some pages are ripped, stained etc, his record shows that it was returned for a replacement.
The buch was issued to a JOHANN STOGER who started his service as an SS-Anwarter in 9/SS ART ERS REG in February 1941, joining 1/SS ART REG " NORD " in April 1941, then joining 7/SS GEB A.R, SS GEB DIV 2 "1V" in July 1942 The last mention of him on his service record says that he was promoted to SS-Rottenfuhrer in March 1943.
Could anybody answer a few questions for me. Firstly am i right in assuming that Stoger's last two units where in the SS Divisions " Nord " and " Prinz Eugen ".
Secondly how do i find out if the guy survived the war, is there a way of checking if he was a casualty.
Any info would be much appreciated.
