Looks like he was wounded in September 1941 and then released from the army in August 1942.

So the date in the Wehrpass for ek2 and swb in just when it was written?

Ibald experienced the full hell of the fighting in Stalingrad. On 18 December 1942, he suffered a contusion to his right eye (no details were given about this injury and the possibilities are many). On Christmas Eve, 24 December 1942, Ibald was shot through the arm. This wound most likely put him out of action, but he would be wounded yet two more times. On 27 December 1942, he was wounded by shrapnel in his right thigh and the next day, 28 December 1942, he was grazed by a bullet in the upper right arm.

His last active unit was 6./Inf.Rgt.208, which he officially left on 9 September 1941. After that it was Gen.Komp.Inf.Ers.Btl.208, then 1./Inf.Ers.Batl.208, and finally Heeresentl.Stelle 2 XII. The last one is a Heeresentlassungsstelle, a medical discharge bureau. From the looks of these entries, the guy was seriously wounded in August-September 1941, then passed through several replacement units in the homeland before being discharged from the armed forces, almost certainly due to his wounds. His service and disability were later recognised with the simultaneous bestowal of the Wound Badge in Silver and EK2.
