    Favorite Wehrpass or Soldbuch

Out of your collections which one is your favorite Wehrpass or Soldbuch?

    Regards

That's a difficult question to answer as each have their merits...some are nice because of their photo...or awards....

I will have to think about this one!

      Hi Ian,

Agreed. It is a tough one. I am not sure as you point out that photos and units come into the mix, but maybe by looking at it from the perspective as the one SB or WP one would keep among all others.

      Regards

It is hard call, but as I only have 3 soldbuchs and one wehrpass so far, my favorite is my SS totenkopf Wehrpass to a mean looking fellow who ended up as a guard at Sachsenhousen (I think I spelled that wrong). My second is to a Heer dude who was killed just two weeks before the war ended.

I have Luftwaffe, Heer, Kreigsmarine, SS Polizei and Polizei soldbuchs but my favourite is a Volkssturm soldbuch which belonged to a member Artillery Regiment Breslau.

I think I would tend to say I have have 4 favourites!!

Heer, SS, Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe...one from each arm! However, I do have some Volksturm and I suppose I have a favourite out of the ones I have there!

I do have one that is particularly interesting for me and that is a SS one. This person was a member of Heimwehr Danzig which was incorporated into Totenkopf. He was reduced in rank for fighting during 1939 and transferred to the Division Wiking.....injured in Russia, convalesced and to Division Hitlerjugend...unfortunatly killed June 1944 in Caen.

He is no Ritterkreuzträger or even an EK I winner, however it is an extensively well filled in Soldbuch, with a photo and an interesting but fatal career!

              /Ian

                Hello,

Thanks to all for sharing. So far some very nice WP's and SB's. From the interesting descriptions I can see why they are your favorites. Keep them coming...

                Regards

I have only one wehrpass so it must be my favourite. For it's a ver special wehrpass. It belonged to an infantry soldier who fought in Holland in 1940. Because I live in Holland you can imagine I wanted to have it. Here is the page with entries:

It is difficult to choose from, but i would say the WP to a well decorated art. NCO served in 22 cm mortar, another reason also the WP is very well filled out with details in any aspect.

                      This is difficult.
Mine are all panzerpioniere, and I like them all. I have a couple with them pictured wearing wrappers, those are probably my favorite.

Looking for anything related to panzerpioniere and Pz.Pi.Btl 16

                      Thanks Steve

                        Hello.

This is a difficult choice to make , indeed. While I do not have a large collection of S.B. and/or W.P. here are my favorites:
                        - Soldbuch of one of my uncles . He served in 22.I.D. , A.R.22 from before WW II (when he did his obligatory military service ) to the bitter end as a PoW in Yugoslavia ) . Somehow he was able to keep his Soldbuch.
                        - W.P.and Soldbuch (latter rendered invalid by coverpage removal and diagonally inserting a red line on first page) belonging to Hpmn.d.R.(promoted after death) Fritz Kracke. II./Pz.Gr.Rgt. 69, 10.Pz.Div. KIA in Tunesia 31.Jan.1943 . He was awarded both Iron Crosses, Tank Battle Badge in Bronze and the Woundbadge in Silver for three wounds incl. severe ones.
In addition: all military documents and other papers pertaining to his family. Some medals , a first I.D.Tag . Correspondence from comrades and Btl.Kdr.(describing circumstances of his death and the impossibility to recover his body and expressing the hope that the enemy U.S.troops would arrange for a proper burial)., rear echelon commands correspondence re. pension etc. Military map . Letters to his wife , some of which are still unread by me.
Hptm.F.Kracke is buried in the War Cemetery in Bordj-Cedria, Tunesia so the hope of his Btl.Kdr. was entirely justified .
Hptm.d.R. F.Kracke was a dentist by civilian profession and left a widow and three children .

                          Hello,

very interesting thread,I expected to hear about alot of SS wehrpass and soldbuch's,its interesting to hear what everyones favorite is and why,i guess everyone has one they they like above all the rest for some reason.I have over 30 wehrpass and my favorite is from a man who served in A.R 109 from 1939-1942.he saw action in Holland ,luxemburg,Belgium and France, later in the invasion of Russia,on 7.7 1942 he was transferred to Art.Rgt.190 (mot) as part of the 90th light Afrika division, were he was wounded and evacuated back to Germany.not a decorated war hero or a SS man but still a very neat wehrpass and my favorite by far! I would like to hear more comments about peoples favorites WP/soldbuch!

I think my favorite would be the Dienstpaß belonging to Oberwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei Franz Gralla.
I have his personell record and his Dienstpaß and Dienstausweis.

This guy had seen quite some action in the Eastern regions fighting Partisans. Alas not enough to earn the Bandenkampabz.

anyway...here's a detail of two pages with entries relating to his Bandenkampf activities
