That one used to be in my collection a few years ago.....let it go as I generally do not collect replacement books.

For sale in the States now...interestingly it comes with an Expert Evaluation/Guarantee, by D. Niemann....the person I sold it to must have had that done!?!?!?!

In case you didn't know, 'your' pilot has an entry in the Kracker Archive with 5 kills to his name....

Hi Ian, yes, i guess they (replacements) don't seem to be as appealing (and it's pretty expensive) , do you know who the signiature of the Oberleutnant is ?
Hucks, I did see that actually, but thankyou all the same

No I don't, to be honest I didn't really research it and sold it on......I will have a look to see if I still have any info on him......It is a more expensive now than it was a few years ago......

Interesting that with the exception of the EKM, there are no entries after it was issued.

Just an educated guess but on the first page it shows E-Soldbuch which I would assume to be Ersatz-Soldbuch, so rather then this being a Zweitschrift issue it was only issued on a temporary basis until a Zweitschrift one was obtained, or maybe it was just a case of the admin trail not catching up with his details after this one was issued.

It is a replacement (Ersatz) book...I would imagine as his first is full of entries. This often occurred for Luftwaffe simply as no more promotions could be entered on page 1 as opposed to glueing an extra insert with promotions on.

Although not all pages are shown you can clearly see the leaves from his first book have been entered from his first book....there are more entries that make it a little more appealing if I remember correctly!!

Zweitschrift is a copy, duplicate or second issue depending how you translate it, however they technically should be a copy of the original. Ersatz of course is a replacement and again could be a copy of the original or only have entries after the date of issue...however same could be said for Zweitschrift.

I think it depends who is makeing the Zweitschrift or Ersatz as to what goes in it and of course if the original is still in existance and to hand to copy from!

I have two to hand at the moment...both Luftwaffe.....a Zweitschrift from 1.8.1943 where there are only entries from that date, except his awards. Also an Ersatz from 26.1.942, this has is rank at the date of opening, however units, kit issue and leaves from 1939!

Obviously I would expect important info to be copied over in particular vaccinations and medical conditions, however that should be in the Gesundheitsbuch. With that said, how many Gesundheitsbuch have you seen with entries

This opens up a new thread on replacement Soldbücher and Gesundheitsbuch with entries

There are specific regulations for filling out a replacement Soldbuch. Like all admin rules, these were not correctly followed in all cases. So Zweitschrift or Ersatz....hmmm.
