Soldbuch Panzer A.A. Grossdeutschland LT 18 Years Old !

Hi Guys. This week my Pleasure is to show you this one that I really do appreciate. Great Unit, great Photo..... 18 Years old Leutnant, earning 3 Awards during the last War Months... After belonging to the 3./Pz.A.A."GD", he was affected to the Heeres-Panzer-Jagdverband S, equipped with the famous "Sturmgewehr" (M.P.44)... I would be glad to find some Documentation about this late Tank-Destroyer Unit, many thanks for any Help in this Matter.... As I met Karl-Heinz for the first Time, he also had his 3 Awards Documents... One Year after his Death, as I met his Widow, these Award had disappeared. I only had some copies that I could scan if anybody wants to see it too... Of course I would be very happy to reunite the whole Group, if anybody on the WAF knows more, any Help would be appreciated...

Two Documents found in the Soldbuch. One signed from his Schwadrons-Chef, Letter to accompany his PAB Award Document, and one Letter from Karl-Heinz to his Unit to request the Listing of the Close Combat Days in which he took part.

Outstanding soldbuch! Thank you for sharing.

So did she sell the award documents or did his wife misplace them?

Hi Antony and Brandon ! I do not know what happened with the 3 Awards Documents. The first time I met the Veteran itsel, I saw them in original. The Veteran wanted to keep all the Stuff. After he passed away, his Widow was OK to let me his military Souvenirs. But as I came there, the Awards Documents were just photocopies. Widow said she don't know what happened... I doubt that the Veteran gave them away... No Idea what really happened there. But as Antony said, that's sad that this little Group has been spitted. I prefer 10x the Soldbuch as the Award Documents, but.... If anybody knows where they are, I would purchased them for an higher Price than their real Value, just to re-build the Group !! Here they are :

Great Soldbuch. I hope you are successful in finding the documents and re-uniting them.

                  Very nice Soldbuch L!

I have some info somewhere on Heeres Panzerjagdverbände but need to look for it...not very documented units! I have a couple of groups also to guys in such units and I can not find hardly any info at all!

Shame about the documents but I have heard of similar things in the past when documents have been "borrowed" for a book and such things only for copies to be returned! If they are returned at all as some so called collectors wait for the veteran to die before attempting (or so they say!) to send them back.

The stamps on top of page 4 are of interest to me also as I have two instructors with this unit and both bear similar if not the same stamp.....I need to check that also....no doubt they shouted at young Karl-Heinz! One was a veteran RKT!

                  Cheers!

Well, it's nice to see that at least four collectors appreciate how rare and flat-out awesome this Soldbuch is. I don't usually like to use the term "rare" when referring to pretty much anything, but in this case I think it's safe to say that this is indeed a very rare Soldbuch and we are very lucky to have the opportunity to view it. FWIW, this is only the second "Großdeutschland" Soldbuch with a period-affixed black wrap portrait photo I have ever seen (the other is Panzer with embroidered "GD" shoulder straps). Add to the fact that he was an officer with combat award entries and and you have one hell of a Soldbuch.

L- I for one truly appreciate you sharing this wonderful gem from your amazing collection. I will be the first to admit it, I am extremely envious of this one

Thanks for sharing it with us, and I can only hope that you are one day able to reunite the docs with the SB.

                      L-

This might be of some interest to you:
"Bei dem Heeres-Pz.Jagd-Verband R handelte es sich um einen aus deutschem Personal aufgestellten Verband. Er wurde bereits wenige Tage später, ab 16.4.1945, zusammen mit den Pz.Jagd-Verbänden S und T für die Aufstellung der Pz.Jagd-Brigade Schneider verwendet und dann im Raum Berlin (genaueres habe ich gerade nicht) eingesetzt."

Stunning SB! Congratulations, 18 years old!
I also have a great SB to the youngest Hauptmann at 22 years old, and he was a Pz.Pi. He was also an outhor writing several books about his unit.
                        Congrats again, Steve

                              I am impressed!

Very nice SB and thank you very much for sharing! What surprizes me the most is this fellow, Karl-Heinz was in the 3./Panzeraufklärungs-Abt. GD and is wearing the black Panzer uniform!!! The 3rd Kompanie was a Panzeraufklärer-Kompanie" and equipped with the Sd. Kfd. 250 SPW. Most photos from the 1944 period show the crews from 3rd Company wearing the field gray Sturmartillerie uniform. Did he ever mention why he wore a black Panzer uniform?
                              Thank you,
                              Mike
