    Interesting Entry

One of my favorites document groups. Stabsarzt Senninger served on the Russian Front with Feldlazarette 179 of the 79th Katzbach Division. Both Senninger and the other medical personnel of Feldlaz. 179 were for some reason able to escape the Soviet Nov, 1942 encirclement and so were not caught up in the debacle of Stalingrad. With the destruction of the 79th Division, Feldlaz. 179 became an independent medical unit travelinig South and ending up all the way down in the Kuban bridgehead. From 1943-44 he was in the Kuban and later the Crimea. Lucky yet again, Senninger was in Sevastopol throughout the Soviet seige of the city during May,1944. He was one of the very last to be evacuated before the remanants of the 11th Army surrendered. During late 1944 he was transfered to Norway until the war ended.

An interesting entry from his Wehrpaß stating qualification to wear the Kuban-Schild.
