    Help identifying ship please?

    Gents,

Here is an extract from a Soldbuch...yes it is page 52.....more on that later for those that are not aware

However it appears to be Dampfer Rhea but I can not find any reference to this ship at all!!!

The FP Nr. 11776 belonged to Seetransportstelle Brindisi.

This Soldbuch belonged to Matrosen Gefreiter with Marine Bordflak Abteilung Süd...there are entries for Africa pay and the Soldbuch appears to stop April 1943.....ship sunk, taken PoW at sea, in Africa?

    Thanks for any assistance,

    Ian

"Rhea" was not a GERMAN Merchant Marine vessel, alas.

      Hi Rick,

I did find one reference in Die deutschen Kriegsschiffe 1815-1945 Band 7 by Erich Görner.
Built 1921 in Finland as Graudenz. 24.10.1939 as Frachtdampfer Rhea. 15.3.1940 Transporter Lzgr. See, 11.7.1940 Verpflegungsamt Rotterdam. May 1942 returned to owner, Finland.

This is the only thing that I have found and because of the last sentence...returned to Finland in 1942, I do not believe it to be the same ship!?
