    Help on a translation

Would someone please help me with a translation of "Kommandeur z.b.V. beim Divisiongefechtsstand". Thanks

Hi the 1'st word is Commander. z.b.V means "for special purpose", and I am trying to fiqure out the rest. Hope this helps a bit

      Maybe

      Hello,

Literally, "Commander for special purpose in the division, combat state." (Could pertain to combat readiness?) Where are you getting this from, as it might help to put it in context.

no, Divisionsgefechtsstand means "division battle headquarters". He was obviously in a staff position at the division HQ with commander-equal rank.

        Regards
        Chris

Is it that...I thought it was more like "division combat/battle position" i.e. where they were located at that moment in time!

Thank you all for your help. This is the position listed for Jochen Peiper from December 28 1944 to February 15 1945. The February date I understand, as I believe that to be the date that Otto Kumm took over the command of the division. However I think that December 28 1944 is too early for Mohnke's injury that caused him to give up the command.
Does this add anything to the meaning?

              Ian,
as far as I know, it is the combat position of the division HQ, but not of the entire division.

              Regards
              Chris

Yes, I think we both mean the same thing just wording it different
