Some items I located this year, that were kept by a family in the Bonneville area of France: remains of the 1st Battalion of Polizei Regiment 19 after it surrendered to the French Partisans in August 1944.

These items got me very interested in the 1st Battalion of Polizei REgiment 19, Polizei Bataillon 72, I would be interested if anybody has more documents or photos of them.
Hans Fütterer and Franz Aigner, the owners of the above items, were both lucky enaugh to survive their surrender to the partisans.

Hi Jean-Loup, I have a matching dienstpass/dienstbuch to SS Pol Rgt 1/19. The battle entries only mention action in the Balkans. He earned the IAB in silver, was hospitalized and then sent to Pol. Wach. Batl. XVII. No mention of France.

I also have a dogtag to Pol Batl. 72. I have no lineage to it.

Hi Lee. Can you perhaps post photos of some of these items?

Taken from Axis History....can't check my books as I have a bad back at the moment...

The SS-Polizei Regiment 19 was formed in July 1942 in France. It was sent to Slovenia where it fought the partisans until March 1944 when it was sent back to France. It was first stationed at Langres and took part in anti-partisan operations in Dauphiné-Savoie, Limousin and Auvergne but transferred to Belfort in September 1944 where it would protect the Vichy government headed by Marshal Petain.
It withdrew towards Colmar in late 1944 but its fate is unknown.

Here is one I have but no actions from SS Pol.Rgt. 19 are mentioned...only time in Russia with Pol.Schtz.Rgt. 31 and actions against partsians....in particular Nali Bocka Wald (Naliboki forest...home of the Bielski Brigade!)

              /Ian

Jean-Loup , I made a mistake on the dog tag, it is batl. 84 not 72. The roll number is 72.

I probably won't get to the id's until the weekend.
