    Erkennungsmarke Help

I think it's a good one, but the writing gets me a little confused. Is it WW1?

    I believe it says: J.N.E.KP. 30
Meaning: Jager Nachrichten Erzats Kompanie 30, right?

    thanks,

    Michiel

    Hello,

It is ID tag from WWII:

    J.N.E.KP. 30 = Infanterie-Nachrichten-Ersatz-Kompanie/ (Infanterie-Ersatz-Regiment) 30 - Infantry Signal Replacement Company/30th Infantry Replacement Regiment

      Thanks a lot!

I was trying to find it with the search option, but did the Germans use metal dogtag chains in US style?

This specific tag came on a chain like that, also with an old "treasure box" key and a small cross pendant. But I think they are a post-war put togheter set. Like the owner (or a relatif, who knows) has been wearing it as a memory.

I have seen original dog tags with (original) chains.
