I can very confidently state that this is not an original Mauthausen KL tag...

    Trev,
can you give some explaination why?
I know the guy who found these tags in Ebensee years ago. Seen the whole hoard myslef. And also same tags coming from different sources ( dug in Poland).
Don't see anything wrong with them.
Very interesting to learn your version'

If certain collectors are satisfied with the manufacture, font, wording and story(ies) associated with these tags, then the piece for sale should fit nicely into their collections....clearly the veteran KL collectors who have PM'ed me and private e-mailed me about this tag / this thread do not feel the same way.

          Thanks.
Would it be possible to get ( at least as PM) some reference pictures of KLM tags that vet-kl collectors would feel ok about?
          Regards
          Al

I am the seller and i am 100% sure that it is original ...

It is originally from the Austrian Ebensee finding in the 7 or 6 years ago...

I have it since then ...

                  Guys,

I am no expert so I suppose we start with what we know.

I have a few zinc blank discs (ground found) and they look like the reverse of this disc in terms of aging.

If they started as original blank discs there would be some sign of patina being disturbed by 'striking' the new code?

It looks to me from the reverse to be an honest untouched disc?

Thats my two bob as I do not know enough about the front to comment further!

If this has been copied and aged then it is a very convincing job and we should all take note.

                  Jock
