    Erkennungsmarke question.

    Hi everybody,

A while ago I bought a Deathcard from a Luftwaffe member who was killed in the Huertgenwald, todat I visited his grave in Huertgen, and on the namelist in the cemetery I found him back. On the list his EKM no. is mentioned as beeing; L 048189

My question is what the EKM means, perhaps Fallschirmjäger?
He was killed in the vicinity where the 3.FJD fought, therefore my question.

    Thank you in advance,

    Nick

There is no information about this number.
It can be any LW formation.

          Erkennungsmarke vs. Feldpostnummern

I would think this is most likely a Feldpostnummern. The information for that particular fpn is:

          48189
          (2.1.1940-11.3.1943) Stellungsbatterie (K) 344,
          dann Stellungsbatterie (Küste) 344,
          (23.4.1944-24.11.1944) 25.5.1944 gestrichen

It is certainly a FP nummer.
