    Soldbuch "Hunyadi"

    Here is a 25 SS Hunyadi division I have, can anyone help with a couple of questions,

    1/ Were is he from in Hungary

    2/ His unit is noted as 5 company, 3 regiment, does this mean 3rd Hungarian? which is the SS 63rd Regiment ?

    3/ Can anyone read the company fuhrer signature ?

      He comes from Villánykösvesd in Baranjy county in one of the good wine making areas of Southern Hungary by the larger city of Pécs (Fünfkirchen) - there were a lot of Germans in that area so his name is no surprise.

          Erich, many thanks....Ian, just been reading the site mentioned, and yes it appears my book is on it, must have been the previous owner who put it there, still no problems as it all helps with the general understanding of the division.........interesting bit of history

            The signature is Bíró fhgy/Obersturmführer common name in Hunyadi Soldbuchs.
