Reichsheer Militärpass 1934

Hi all,

just wanted to show this recent purchase. I had so many Wehrpass/ Soldbuch from WW1 & WW2 but never one from between these times.

I just wanted to ask if these are common to find otherwere ?

Jens,

I have only one sort of garisson pass of that period.

I have not seen this before, I would think they are quite rare.

Perhaps in the transition from Reichswehr to Wehrmacht the clerks were instructed to destroy them or something?

Maybe some of the experts here will have a reference or reason for their rare sightings?

The obvious reason I suppose is the 100000 man Army?

good idea, maybe they were all given back and when the new ones were issued.
Of course, the 100.000 men army thing adds to their rare appereance.

By the way, his later WP was also with the lot.

Jens,

Like all things 'cause and effect' will be the answer.

There will be a reason for the rarity of them just what is it?

There are a lot of well informed people here I'm sure they will get to the bottom of it.

I suppose you could add to the equation the fact Hitler was breeching the restrictions imposed on Germany around then and would have been trying to hide the growth of the Wehrmacht?

I have thought about it in the past but I have the attention span of a goldfish.
