    POW number on FJ SB.

    Hi guys,

    Bought recently a nice FJ soldbuch but the last entry was at November 1944 and there my main interest goes out to the Bulge and Eifel region this entry was a bit to soon.
    While checking another book in my collection which soldier was in the same division I found out his POW number was almost the same. Just a 300 numbers in difference. And this book does have entries of early March 1945, also a date on which almost the entire division was captured.

    There each POW number stands for the so much captured prisoner;

    Can this perhaps indicate the two soldiers were captured almost at the same time? Or is this a wild guess from me?

    Kind regards,

    Nick

    Yes, perhaps. Or they were registered as POW at the same time. Because, it's not sure that the POW numbers were given immediatly, of course. Several days could spent between the date of capture and the registration in the "cage" or prisonner camp.
    According to the number seen on your Sb (more than one million), it is probably during first months of 45.

      It is indeed difficult to say, I have read about soldiers who got there POW number just a few days after they where captured but also soldiers who got there POW number months after they were captured, while they where in a POW camp in England.
