    Kampfgruppe Baunach

Posted this in the Order of Battle and Individual Research Forum In a attempt to get confirmation of the Location of Kampfgruppe Baunach Location Feb 1945? According to this Slip in the SB they were in and around Defence Sector B Berlin, Possibly on the Odor front in Feb before withdrawing into the City latter on.

Also hoping to Provoke the question of who Signed this, Was this on Behalf of Barenfanger ? Throw the Books I have and online Search I'm finding little Solid Information to indicate who was Barenfangers Adjutant at this Time. Have tried to Contact the Author Stephan Hamilton--Bloody Streets 1945) To no avail, Would appreciate working with Fellow Collector who has similar interest in the assault on Berlin 1945.

    Justin,

If it was named after its commander and if that was Major Gregor Braunach RKT, then you should try and find out more about him. Initially I have not found anything on a "Kamfpgruppe Braunach".

Here are some links on Georg Braunach which I am sure you have found already.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregor_Baunach
    http://www.ritterkreuztraeger-1939-4...ach-Gregor.htm

Seeing as he was holder of both RK and CCC in Gold he is mentioned in the following book:

Berger, Florian (2004). Ritterkreuzträger mit Nahkampfspange in Gold. Selbstverlag Florian Berger

I have a copy and will take a look to see if there is anything specific there to the final days of the war.

This of course is taken from the English version of Florian's book "The Face of Courage"

Interesting soldbuch you have there - would be interesting to know what unit he was with before the withdrawal to Berlin

Enclosed a map with the different sectors (unfortunately I no longer know where it comes from) and a soldbuch of mine for Verteidigungsabschnitt D. This guy was with Kampfgruppe Krause.
