Gents,
The following is an entry on page 8 in the Soldbuch to an Oberwachtmeister with Kosaken Regiment Platow.
This entry has been bugging me for sometime and might not be anything really significant but if anyone can make it out I would very pleased!
"Tragen der K? g? auf Grund Verfügung AOK 17 "...the K and the g word have me baffled!
A little history of the owner............
Soldbuch opened 28.8.1939. Served with Infanterie Regiment 457 part of 257 Infanterie Division, 1939 in Poland, Saarpfalz, 1940 Maginot Line, 1941 Russia (Uman, Dniepr, Kiew, 1942 Donez), Kosaken Regiment Platow, leichte Kosaken (Platsun) Abteilung 2 renamed 2 Kosaken Reiter Regiment also Ural-Kosaken Reiter Regiment 2 and finally Sibirisches Kosaken Reiter Regiment 2 part of 1 Kosaken Division in Croatia.
Has photo of holder in Heer Oberwachtmeister uniform. Bears interesting notation stating as a member of 1 Kosaken Division he is entitled to wear the arm badge and trouser stripe for that Division, also as a member of Sibirisches Kosaken Reiter Regiment 2 he is entitled to wear the Regiments Cross.
Awards include 16.9.1941 Iron Cross 2nd Class, 17.9.1941 Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, 4.9.1942 Russian Front Medal, 4.9.1942 Wound Badge in Black, 5.8.1944 Bravery Award for Eastern People 2nd Class in Silver, 26.2.1945 Wound Badge in Silver.
Thanks in advance, Ian
