    31d wound code

If I remember correctly there was a thread about rare wound codes on this forum some time ago.
So let me show you all a rare one, a 31d, bombing or other air attack, wound code entry in an Infantry Soldbuch.

    Greetings,
    Burkel

Entries in Wehrpasses in regards to ground unit members WIA / KIA from air attack are - for the most part - usually entered (when entered) in full and not coded. While 31d is a more common entry in the Soldbuchs of wounded aircrewmen - basically a "catch all" code for being wounded by / from the result of "Air Combat" - it's a much scarcer entry in an Infantrymens Soldbuch. Approx. Five months in 4 different hospitals wound indicate this fellow had a fairly serious wound....would it be possible for you to post more of this Soldbuch ???

Some of you might have noticed that he was a pre war NCO of the 47IR, a regiment that was trained for airborne operations.

                Some background info:
Before the war Bruno Mischke was a professional NCO with the elite 47IR (22LLD) when the war broke out he was assigned as an antitank gun instructor to the 58th training regiment, from 1940 based in Denmark.
He still gets his payments from his parent unit, 47IR.
In the summer of 1942 he is transfered to a frontline unit again, now with the 4th mg company of IR76 of the 20th motorized division.
In August '42 he is hit by shrapnel from an airplane bomb (31d wound code), the wound is rather serious because he stays in various hospitals for more then a year.
After a short period with a landesschützen unit he is transfered to a weapons school of 6 Pz Div.
In 1945 he is transfered to the 1st company of Pz Jg Abt 41, an antitank unit of the 6th Panzer Division.
In the final stages of the war he gets an EKII during the defence of Vienna.
