    Strange battle calender

Anyone ever seen a battle calendar stamped in like this??? It's on the website of a dealer with a dodgy reputation (and that's putting it nicely!).

Never seen anything like it (which isn't saying a lot, there's always more to learn).

But the Stalingrad entries make me nervous, as they "bring in the money", so to speak.

Also, it looks like there's multiple overlapping dates, as if this person was involved in multiple conflict areas at the same time.

If the dealer is known as dodgy, I'd be reeeeeeeeeal wary.

Unless it was nighttime, or the weather was bad, and you were running out of gas - then it was a sweaty nightmare, like a monkey f*ing a skunk.

The dealer (*cough* snyder's treasures *cough*) is definitely a bad one, sorry.

I think all of us would agree to stay away from most of his stuff.

Jeezus, if it's Snyder's Treasures, you'd get more use out of your money by using it as toilet paper after a weekend of beer, anchovies, and jalepeno poppers.

          Indeed, it is Snyder's treasures.

A top WP/SB expert has contacted me via PM and confirmed that the entry is OK, as is the rest of the book. He has a very similar one in his collection. This particular style of WP (a Zweitschrift) was created so that it could be sent to families of MIA soldiers, hence the strange battle calendar with overlapping dates.

Nevertheless, even though it is good, I'd rather not line the pockets of a crook.

I still think it is bogus, as there are several requests in the Heeres Verordnungsblatt, that when Wehrpass or Stammrollen are returned to the Wehrbezirkskommando, that the unit should encluded an extra copy of the battle page to be placed in the Wehrstammbuch. Since it's the Wehrbezirk that sends the Wehrpass to the families of fallen soldiers, I doubt the front units would have the capacity or time to "print" battles like this in the Wehrpass.
            Just MHO of course.

I was contacted by the expert Jason mentioned and I stand corrected.

                Hi Jeff,

You now already know this but for everyone else the front-line unit was destroyed at Stalingrad, so the Wehrbezirk compiled this Wehrpass and sent it to the family. Without having the list of battles on hand for each unit, I guess this generic battle calendar was used for many Stalingrad MIAs.

                All the best,
                Jason

Well, I guess I stand corrected too. Have at it, and best of luck with it.
