    WP Pz.Gren.Rgt.110, KIA - opinions

Hello. I'd like to get some opinions for this WP of a Oberfeldwebel of the Pz.Gren.Rgt. 110. He was killed in action in Russia in 1943. He received the following awards:

    2.9.1941: EKII
    22.1.1942 Panzer Assault Badge Bronze
    1.8.1942: Medal "Winterschlacht im Osten"
    19.2.1943: EKI

What does the "Richtkreis" entry mean on the weapon page?

    Regards, Matthias

          ''Richtkreis.
A combined instrument for general direction finding purposes.
The instrument seems to have been derived from instruments used by surveyers.
It has a compass, two bubbles for levelling and acurate scales for horinzontal and vertical angle measurement.
At the bottom is an aiming circle, in use and mounting almost identical as the one for the SF 14. This instrument was mounted on a tripod.

The Richtkreis 31 (RK 31) is the best known type. ''

So, he was trained with this kind of bunker optic I guess.

            Richtkreis

Looks like a nice WP for an infantry gun (150mm I believe) crew member. The FpNr on some of the stamps (12487) matches the unit...

              (Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) 14. Kompanie Infanterie-Regiment 319,
              (15.9.1940-31.1.1941) 11. Kompanie Schützen-Regiment 110,
              (15.7.1942-24.1.1943) 11. Kompanie Panzergrenadier-Regiment 110,
              dann 9. (s.I.G.)Kompanie Panzergrenadier-Regiment 110.

If being super-critical a question mark could be raised over the PAB Bronze entry but it would be pretty much impossible to say whether it is a period or post war entry, but I would assume it to be a period entry.

Hi Hucks. I knew that this question will come ...
This is why I added a large photo of it to the thread. If you look carefully you'll see that the blue-ink entry on page 12 had been made with the same pen and it also has the same handwriting.

                Regards, OB
