I am considering buying my first SS soldbuch. I have never owned anything that is related to the SS, so I am not sure where to begin.
I am still not great at spotting fake entries, or "fishy" material in soldbuchs yet. That will come with time, since I have been collecting for a year now.
Here is the soldbuch description:
Soldbuch. SS Werfer Abt 502. Unteroffizier Bruno Baumgart.
SS Werfer Abt 502.
1). Soldbuch (Army Soldbuch) with uniform photo, dated 9/04/1941.
Entitled to: - Verwundeten-Abzeichen in Schwarz.
Born 3/10/1910. Bruno joined the Army in April 1941 training with 3./ Bau-Ers. Batl.4. After his training he was transferred to Nachschub-Bataillon 148. The battalion was used in Belgium and north France. In April 1941 he joined Nachschub-Bataillon 748 active on the Eastern Front in Romania. In October 1944 Bruno joined Westheer-Bataillon 310 this consisted of SS and Army ranks who were integrated among the SS-Korpstruppen. He was then transferred to 3. / Werfer Abt.Gen.Kdo. SS Panzer Korps. Later that month he joined SS Werfer-Abt.502, which was attached to the 10. SS Panzer-Division "Frundsberg". When he joined this unit it after the fighting at Arnhem.
The unit was then deployed for the Ardennes offensive. Bruno was injured in 1945.
Note.. This soldbuch has had most of the swastikas and SS runes removed from the cover and inside the soldbuch. The book has damage to the spine, but there are no loose pages.
Please tell me if you see anything bad or weird in this book. I understand that SS items are highly copied and reproduced, so I am a bit nervous about this.
Thanks,
Swayne Martin
