    My Private Holy Grail !

It was an extremly lucky week for me. I got one of the most scarce ID tags.
A replacement POW tag for female Armia Krajowa officer from Warsaw Uprising. There were only perhaps 2-3 hundred of these issued to female officers and senior NCOs transported from Stalag 318 Lamsdorf to IV B Muhlberg and later Molsdorf. Due to shortage of tags in Stalag 318 this very POW transport was issued replacemnt card tag made of pink cartonboard cut from file binders. Actually they never received proper metal id tags until end of the war. As these are made of thick paper and do not look very spectacular very very few survived until now.
I was looking for one of these since many years and yes yes yes! I got it for as much as 5 Euro this week!
Intrestingly owner of this tag became a member of 1st Polish Independent Parachute Brigade when released from the camp by the allies.

Very interesting!! I love stuff attributed to women in WWII. I don't own much but some DRK stuff.

Really nice Something I haven't seen.

        My private holy grail!

Congrats for your latest find, and what a scarce ID tag!!! I believe you when you state that this is one of the rarest ID tags, as I'm sure that most of them didn't survive the war. What a great price, too!!! Thanks for posting this rare & interesting ID tag!!!

        Best regards,

        Tom

Actually most of them survived the war. The female POWs from Warsaw Uprising were treaten suprisingly well compared to their male coleagues.
Very few of those who weren't seriously wounded died mostly from friendly fire during one of the air battles over the camp in Molsdorf.
The thing is that the tags didn't survived since war until now.
I have seen perhaps 3 of these in museums and one in a privat collection. Unfortunately most of the vets I have targeted lost their over the years.
Now I'm looking for the most rare of the Warsaw Uprising POW tags - only 14 issued to babies born in the Oberlangen camp. This is going to be though....
