    Stalag EM question

I was wondering if there was a standard way of information on Stalag Erkennungs Marken? I have seen many different versions, all on square discs, though some just mention Stalag and its number plus a prisoners number but some also have the text Kr Gef for Kriegs Gefangene as I presume.
Another difference is that I've seen both with and without horizontal lines underneath the lines of text/numbers. So wasn't here any standard or....?

And perhaps this was a stupid question though since I am new to this field I was just curious about this

I came across these ones, are they original?

    Thanks for all information!!!!
    Regards,
    Marcel

    Marcel,

The two tags you have there were made differently. The bottom tag was machine stamped with everything except the prisoners number in advance. The top tag was made by hand and has score marks so the person doing the stamping can keep the letters in line.

      Thanks for the information!!!

And is there a big variety in POW tags? I came to wonder while reading the book by Richard Pape, who was a RAF bomber navigator, "Boldness be my friend" where he was a POW at Stalag VIIIb and after two failed escapes he was brought to Stalag Luft VI. He switched identity with a POW from New Zealand for his first attempt to escape, and thus they had to switch tags as well. There I came to wonder if other camps had other 'designs' for their tags. Online I couldn't find anything that could answer my question, and perhaps it's even a stupid question but still I decided to give it a go
