            Hello

            Great former Flak Wehrpass !!!

There is a nice little surprise in it:

24.8.41 - 27.8.41 Flakschutz des Führerhauptquartier an der Ostfront

(Flakprotection of the headquarter of Adolf Hitler at the eastern front.)

            Best regards, Fronti

I found this which confirms that III. Btl. /Fallschirmjäger Rgt. 3 was fighting in Monte Cassino.

                      Hello

                      Why certainly!
FschJgRgt 3 saw action at Monte Cassino !!!

Oberst Rudolf Böhmler (commander of I./FschJgRgt 3) was on top of Monte Cassino and earned the Knightscross for capturing Hill 435.
At the 3rd Cassino battle, Böhmlers I./FschJgRgt 3 defendet the Calvarienberg against 2nd polish Tank Brigade and the polish Karpatenjäger.
The Karpatenjäger could take the Calvarienberg for a short time after destroying the 1st coy of FschJgRgt 3, but after a counterattack in the evening of 12.05.1944 from Oberfeldwebel Karl Schmidt with the men of the 14th coy of FschJgRgt 3, the polish Karpatenjäger had to withdraw.

IMO II./FschJgRgt 3 was in action in the town of Cassino at the same time.

                      Best regards, Fronti

do you think it is possible to trace the first (!) burial place of this soldier in Italy? It must have been near the place where he was KIA.

If you would find this cemetery you had lokated the area where he was killed.

I do not know the system in Italy but normally they should also have an organization like the German Volksbund. And they should have a list of the firsrt burial places.

If not even the Volksbund should know from which local cemetery they brought him to the Futa-Pass Cemetery - if the Volksbund did it.
