    Cholm Shield Soldbuch

I have purchased a Soldbuch with a Cholm Shield entry for 31/10/42 to a Gebirgsjager officer atached to JagerKommando 8. I am awaiting photos to come but understand these are rare.Any advice on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks Kyle

Did the seller tell you that there are quite a few pages missing from it? I was bidding on it and even made an offer to buy even with the dubious EK I & IAB entries but withdrew my bid & offer after the buyer revealed the information about the missing 8 or so pages. Cholm Shield entries are very very rare but the amount of missing pages was the straw that broke the camels back in terms of what I was willing to put up with for such a rare entry, even for the low price for such a soldbuch but we all have our own tolerances for what we look for and are satisfied with and mine just happens to be missing pages.
I'm assuming you mean this one that was on Militaria321...

I think the Cholmshild entry may be ok - there looks to be a faint green stamp just under it which I would assume to belong to a Jager unit (he did go to a Gebirgsjager Ers. u. Ausb. unit for a while, as well as a Jager Ersatz unit) and the signature does look 'natural' while the entry does sit in the flow of the entries on that page, i.e. it hasn't been squeezed in.
The Feldpost Numbers in the stamps above & below it are for Jager Btl 8 so it may well of been entered into the soldbuch during a spell away from tha unit and before re-joining it again as shown on page 4.

Thanks for that Hucks I am left wondering whether to pull out what with the missing pages etc, I put my max bid prior to the page info being made known.

So did I and it was only when I made an offer to buy that the seller revealed the missing pages information. But, you got this soldbuch for less than £190 and you will probably never see such an entry in a soldbuch for that low a price again. Some people don't mind missing pages, for all we know the soldier might of removed them himself for whatever reason at the end of the war, but it's just one of those private collecting rules we all have - I don't mind the odd bogus award entry if the 'bigger picture' is worth it and I don't mind if all the pages are worn & loose but I draw the line at missing pages.

I've just dug out the email the seller sent me and the pages that are missing are 15 to 20 & 23-24, so you are only missing pages that deal with pay, disposition of valuables while in a Lazarett/security checks, dental care, the second unit page listing and the pages noting the details for when he went on leave.
