And last but not least a photo of the book "Last Stand at Le Paradis" from Richard Lane. It's amazing what detailed information Richard Lane provides in this book. While trying to contact him unfortunately I had to find out the he died from cancer.

So it was you that bought this. Interestingly the photo in the WP leads to the same question marks as to the one in mine (also for a member of SS-Heimwehr Danzig & SS-T.I.R-3, although 'my' soldier was KIA at Demyansk) as to whether it is original to the WP or added later. With mine the photo is similar and wearing the same type of uniform but at some point Heer stamps were added to it - the ??? being whether it is a case of the photo being original to the WP and the stamps were added by someone (probably post-war) as they thought it would look more official, or were the WP's originally photo-free and someone has added the photos to them later on (but in your case with no stamps being added.)

Cheers Ian & H, must admit I did not see the picture as an issue but was more interested in whats written, if we have the same issue with the picture...it would be interesting to see if they came from the same source, will do some digging

Seems to be an interesting Wehrpass, Leibregiment. Is there a chance to see scans of the photos?

                  Regards

Within the last two years two WAF members asked me for permission to use uncensored scans from the Wehrpass as well as from the Knöchlein POW card (#19 of this thread) for their books.
I've never heard from these guys again and unfortunately don't remember their names / IDs.

Perhaps they read this posting and can give me an update or someone has spotted the scans in a book and can give me a hint.

                        Regards

I've already asked that in posting #38. It would be nice to keep my request on top at least for a couple of hours as I started this thread two years ago.

                            Again:

Another Le Paradis Wehrpass with Knöchlein entries

It took me almost 4 1/2 years to acquire another artefact related to the massacre of Le Paradis.

The Wehrpass of the SS Oberscharführer has two signatures of SS Hauptsturmführer Knöchlein who was responsible for the slaughtering at Le Paradis on May 27th 1940 during the French campaign.

Oberscharführer Timmer was an early SS member and served from 1934 with SS TK Verband "Ostfriesland" and "Brandenburg" before being ordered to SS T I.R.2.

September 11th 1940 he was posted to KC Sachsenhausen. He probably served there many years and rumours say he even made it to "KC Blockwart".

According to his tombstone he died in April 1945. Probably during the liberation of KC Sachsenhausen by US troops.

I'll be deeply grateful for any information regarding his service at KC Sachsenhausen.

Above I'll show some scans of the interesting Wehrpass.

                                Regards, Matthias
