Although not directly related to the subjest of Auslander Arbeitsbuch. I was wondering if anyone could explain the difference between two varieties of Arbeitsbuchs I've seen. One has an eagle aloft a swastika whereas the second type just has an eagle of a different style with no swastika. Does this relate to the year of introduction, if so version which is oldest?

Hi Richard.
The eagle with no swastika is the older variety of the two you mention. There should be swastikas in the corners on the border on the cover.
I understand there are actually two versions of the one with the eagle clutching the swastika, and can be told apart by a difference in the script in which "Arbeitsbuch" is printed on the cover. This would make three versions.-Ralph Abercrombie

The versions are basically the same inside. The newer one is updated a bit, adding a page "2a and 2b" for "Wohnort und Wohnung Fortsetzung" - Residence and Dwelling, continued", I suppose for when one moved.
Otherwise differences are minor. The earliest "eagle w/swastika" version I have has entries for 1938.-Ralph Abercrombie
