    British Archives

I recently picked up a nice soldbuch group to a MG company fuhrer and member of Grenadier rgt 1058.Having survived fighting the Americans at Utah,st mere englais etc he was in Paris mid to late August 44.

I translated a letter sent to his family from a former comrade asking if he was alive after taking a bullet in the neck.

A postcard for the family from the Duetsche Dienststelle advises sadly the soldier died in a English hospital 8.9.44 and after my own research he is buried at cannock chase.

I hear our British archives are good, would you think that would have anymore info and who should i write too?

    Cheers
    Andy

Yes, the national archives are something we can actually be proud of.

As you're in London i advise you jump on the tube and get yourself down to Kew. The staff there are really helpful and you'd have a much better chance of finding anything there is to find not to mention it being quicker, if you go there in person.

you're also allowed to photograph records so take a camera along.

Sad as it may sound but i love spending the day there.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

Did you manage to find out anymore at Kew? I may be able to help with some additional details.
