    Soldbuch Oberst von Scotti

This soldbuch was issued to Obsert Hellmut von Scotti Kdr. Pz.Art.Rgt 80

Here's a mystery! Desoite showing a Wehrmacht Long Service Medal for 4 years in "April 1938," von Scotti was NOT listed in the January 1939 army Seniority List!

The bulk of the recalled Wehrmacht WW1 veterans got their first Wehrmacht long services in the first wave of bestowals, October 1936!

He was commissioned a Leutnant in the 4th Guard Field Artillery Regiment first "ernannt" 20.1.17, and then "seniority not established" 27.1.17, leaving the army after the wasr as a Leutnant aD.

He was a major when he got his German Cross, so some sort of bizarre on again, off again regular status and huge leaps and bounds of seniority!

Presumably some relation (?brother) of Generalleutnant Friedrich von Scotti, since the von Scottis were not a numerous family.

FP Nr. 20282 belonged to Regimentsstab Artillerie Regiment 80.

I remember seeing this book for sale, however as all the awards were in the same hand and it was a replacement I did not go for it.....nice book all the same!

What do you not like about it Ed?

What I did not like was the fact that all awards were done in the same hand since I didn't see "Zweitschrift" anywhere, but I will easily stand corrected. Ian, where does one find the FP numbers?

Yes, fakers do that...put the awards in the same hand....in this case the top left hand corner of page 1 appears to say "Ersatzausfertigung" or replacement copy.

Regarding FP numbers...there is a 3 volume set "Die Feldpostübersicht 1939-1945" by Norbert Kannapin..ISBN 3-7648-1183-8. Cost around €250.-

                    Hi Everyone,

Rick, I have a copy of his file which is about two inches thick to see if I can find out anymore concerning the 4 year service medal.

Funny I often see the other von Scotti when searching the web, but not much for Hellmut {2-3 spelling variations of his name in his file}. It is possible that I am not look at the right sites or doing the right searches!!

Ian, I was fortunate and know that chap that was selling it and came to a more resonable deal. I thought that at the price although a replacement, it would be the most cost effective way for a while I would get a combat oberst's SB.

As for the 3 volume of field post numbers is that just in books or do they do a CD rom??
                    Regards

                        Feldpostnummer

I happened upon this on ebay (see below). If you search under "Knights Cross" there is an individual from Munich who appears to be selling the FP CD's that Ian had referenced (they are marked VMD as noted). Not sure if these are copies of copies but, might be what you are searching for, in addition he has numerous other CD's related to research. Click on the link below and it will take you to items he is currently selling on ebay.

                        Cheers

Top man , after Ian's link, I was going to spend several long hours
with permutations trying to track this down, but low and behold, you done it for me.

                          Thanks
