    Bandenkampfabzeichen in Bronze. Polizei member

As a carry on from HouweTrouwe's thread on the Bandenkampfabzeichen in Silber to a Feldgendarm and not to "steal" his thread here is one of mine to a member of a Polizei unit.

I have shown this before but over the years the images or thread has been deleted.

As you can see it is a particularly worn Soldbuch

Inside cover bears an uniform photo. I must admit I am not familiar with the orders for Polizei Soldbücher as to when photos were inserted, perhaps the same for all, however as with Wehrmacht and SS you find them with and without photos!

His dog tag number indicates he saw served with Polizei Bataillon 62 which saw service in France (Lille) in 1940, 1941 in Lorient and Le Poldu providing security for the building of the Atlantic Wall. Spring 1942 to Hengelo in the Netherlands....no indication how long or when he served here of course!

Polizei Schützen Regiment 33 was involved in heavy combat against partisans in the Ukraine as part of Kampfgruppe Prützmann with the remains of the I Bataillon becoming I Bataillon, SS Polizei Regiment 10 during the winter/spring of 1944.

Although you will see many days of close combat, assault and anti partisan actions he was not an Iron Cross winner! No doubt the War Merit Cross was sufficient enough for the sort of duties he carried out.............

Confirmation on the insert of how many days were needed for which class of award, however the latter is not mentioned.

                    Ian,
It must have been hard to keep track of both the Nahkampftagen and the bandenkampftagen, since they weren't supposed to be used in combination.

                          Very interesting.
As far as I know SSPR10 arrived in Italy\Slovenia on 07.1944 but If the entry for the 14.06.1944 actually stands for Cosina\Kozina in actual Slovenia, then this man possibly saw action during the Unternehmen Sonnenwende lead by the Roesener's FSSB (HSSPF Alpenland) between the borders of actual Italy, Slovenia and Croatia (Also around Zabice, close to Kozina and Leskova Dolina). Not 100% sure on the town name anyway, it may refer to another city.

I got no datas for the action dated 06.07 in the area of Gorizia\Ajdovscina\Idrija and Vipava, area between Slovenia and Italy, so were very likely a small operation.

                          Thanks for showing.

Thanks for sharing, Ian and the respect for not "stealing" my BKA.Silber thread. It's a very nice Polizei Soldbuch and nicely filled out.

Absolutely Spectacular, Ian! One of the lengthiest and detailed listing of various fights I've seen in a SB in quite some time. Wow......

Thanks for sharing it with us.
