    Zollgrenzschutz Soldbuch: any out there?

I was just wondering which kind of Soldbuch were issued to the Zollgrenzschutz; the SS "Polizei" style?

    Any one to show?

    Many thanks

    Hello T.K.

I do not think that the members of the Zollgrenzschutz were in ownership of a Soldbuch. I think that they possessed only a Personal-Buch as that below presented.

    Cordial greetings.

Unfortunately not, this VGAD grouping is no longer in my ownership.

I will take some picture when I get home.

The set I have is rather interesting. A lot of fotos and miscellaneous paperwork including some from Swiss Internment. I'll get the pictures posted over the weekend.

                        Polux,

Another wonderful piece from your superb collection.

                        Hans,

What a fantastic group. Pity you let that go.

                        T.K,

The way I understand it is that although the VGAD (Reinforced frontier control) were the militarized arm of the Zollgrenzschutz, they were quite seperate from the ZGS.

The VGAD came under the authority of the Reichsfinanzministerium and as such, they would not normally have been issued with an SS or SS-Polizei style Soldbuch even though they were known as "Sonderpolizei."

On 31/7/44, as a result of the assassination attempt on Hitlers life several days earlier, a large number of Zollgrenzschutz personnel were incorporated into the Sicherheitspolizei. As members of the SiPo, Zollgrenzschutz members would have been authorized to use a standard late war brown cover SS Soldbuch, not the thin paper covered SS Polizei style as issued to Schupo & Orpo.

These late war SiPo issued Metten & Co Soldbucher are extremely rare and I know of only one example issued to a Hilfszollbetriebassistenten, which was sold by a US dealer several years ago. I also know of only one example of a SiPo related Zollgrenzschutz Dienstausweis.

                            g hanson,

you are absolutely right, I was reluctant to separate from this very nice VGAD grouping, but I have specialised my collection only to specific subjects.
And this grouping is now in very good hands
